Deaf Ski Club of Rochester for the Northeast - Ski trips
From: DSCR - Oct 22, 2004
Deaf Ski club of Rochester is growing
We, the committee would like to share with you about the organization of the Deaf Ski Club of Rochester. (DSCR)
Are you getting excited about the upcoming season? Fall is nearly over and with each passing day we draw closer to the most wonderful time of the year: Ski Season!
The primary purpose of the Deaf Ski Club of Rochester for the Northeast is to provide a place for skiers of all types and skill levels to make new friends. We currently have 130 active members and are always interested in growing. The ski members are from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hamsphire, Canada, Alaska, and Florida. Awesome!
That's wonderful news for our first year of the DSCR Website! Please visit our new website at http://deafskiclub.tripod.com for more information. Don't forget to sign up for our membership / mailing list!
Thank you for your interest!
Let's explain more about our club, we will provide some of the planned activities this year. We would like to keep the Traditional Schedule for Gore Mountain, Whiteface Mountain, and other site in Vermont:
The second week of January (Martin Luther King weekend) we will host a gathering at Gore Mountain. The reason is the people who need a "Break Away" from work.
All the trails and lifts should be open. We can use the Access Pass for ski lift ticket for FREE! If you don't have an access pass, you can click on the linkage of "Access Pass" in our webpage to get more information.
Arrangements will be made to get a group discount for hotel accommodation including complimentary continental breakfast, indoor swimming pool, and jazzucci, etc.
The third week of February will see the DSCR at Whiteface for President's Holiday Weekend. Why do I choose this month for Whiteface Mountain? Because I know the Whiteface has been the best ski season in the middle week of February. I want to see opening all the trails on a top of two mountains for the people who are the aggressive skiers. Whiteface has many challenging trails and will push your ability to the limit!
Arrangements will be made to get a group discount for hotel accommodations as same as above.
The month of March for Vermont Ski Area is unplanned at the moment. We would like to take a trip to Vermont, but we will need to wait and determine how many people are interested. Hopefully with enough people participating, we will be able to charter a bus thus helping reduce the cost.
If you are interested in going, please sign up via DSCR Website and e-mail me if you have any comments.
I hope this article helps you joining and supporting our DSCR Program. That's your opportunity to get a ski gathering such as social fun, meeting new people and making new friends – the more the merrier!
Remember that new members are always welcome and most importantly: Membership is FREE.
Hope to see you on the slopes soon!
