From: The Republican - Springfield,MA,USA - Oct 27, 2004
ENFIELD - The National Theater of the Deaf's touring division, known as the Little Theater of the Deaf, will perform at the Enfield Public Library Nov. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
Its performance, "Fingers Around the World," is sponsored by a grant from Target Stores of Enfield.
Children age 5 and up and their caregivers might enjoy this multicultural and multilingual theatrical performance. Free tickets are available at the library.
"Fingers Around the World" weaves and sculpts stories out of the air using the visual language style of theater. Everything signed is also spoken, giving the newcomer to sign language the unique experience of seeing and hearing every word.
The Little Theater of the Deaf is celebrating its 36th year of bringing great literature to life for young people and families. It travels each year to schools, libraries, parks, museums and theaters throughout the world.
It has appeared in major arts centers in the United States including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and the White House. Past international tours have included many countries in Europe, as well as India, Japan, Mexico, Scandinavia and China.
The library will have information about the theater and the show as well as study questions to pick up in advance of the performance.
For more information about this or other events for children, young adults and adults, please call the Enfield Public Library, (860) 763-7510, or visit www.enfieldpubliclibrary.org.
