Deaf man attacked at home

From: Cambridge Evening News, UK - Nov 9, 2004

A DEAF and partially-sighted man was injured in a "cowardly attack" in his own home.

Police are searching for two men believed to be responsible for the attack at the 45-year-old victim's home in March, which left him needing hospital treatment for a facial injury.

Officers believe the incident, last Thursday evening, was an attempted distraction burglary and are linking it to similar crimes in the area the same evening.

Two men called at the house looking for repair work. The victim was attacked after discovering one of the pair going through his property.

Det Insp Jim Bambridge, officer in charge of the investigation, said: "This is a cowardly attack on a vulnerable victim.

"I am keen to speak to anybody who may have information as to the identity of the offenders, any vehicle they may have been using, or any relevant information."

Police believe the same men may have been involved in a number of distraction burglaries on Thursday night, including two in Whittlesey and another in the March area between 10-11.30pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on (0845) 456 456 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
