Special mass to launch ministry for deaf and blind

A DEAF and blind priest will be leading a special mass at St John the Evangelist Catholic church in Duncan Terrace on Sunday.
Father Cyril Axelrod worked in China and in South Africa under apartheid and is visiting Islington as part of the launch of a new deaf blind ministry for the diocese of Westminster.
St John's priest, Father Shaun Lennard, said: "As well as supporting him in prayer for this new venture we hope to raise Deaf Blind awareness so that people can reach out and enable them to have full access to the church. This is not only their right but the church is poorer for the absence of their gifts."
