Henderson mom pleads for return of hearing aids stolen with van

From: KESQ - Palm Desert,CA,USA - Dec 24, 2004

HENDERSON, Nev. A Henderson mom with two deaf children says she hopes their Christmas won't be a silent night. Susan Misso says whoever stole her family minivan also made off with the state-of-the-art hearing aids her six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter need with their surgical cochlear (KOH'-klee-uhr) implants.

She says she just wants to get their ears back.

The family's gold 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager also had gifts and Misso's purse in it when it was stolen from the driveway about six o-clock Tuesday morning.

Four-year-old Kaily Misso's OLD hearing aid was also in the van.

That means she can't hear at all -- not even a jet landing, her mom says.

T-V reports about the theft brought offers of help late Wednesday -- including a deaf Las Vegas woman who offered her own cochlear hearing aid.

But Misso says it was a model incompatible with the children's devices.
