Pedestrian hit by car on Fifth Street
From: Rapid City Journal, SD - Dec 11, 2004
RAPID CITY — A woman was injured Saturday night when she was hit by a car while crossing Fifth Street on the railroad tracks between Omaha and Main streets.
Sgt. Brad Booth of the Rapid City Police Department said the woman was walking west to east across Fifth Street when she was struck by a northbound Honda. The woman was tossed into the windshield of the car, smashed it, was carried about 10 feet by the vehicle and fell into the street in front of it, Booth said.
"She was pretty seriously hurt," he said, noting that wasn't an official medical evaluation.
Booth said the woman was deaf, so officers had additional difficulty getting information from her before she was taken to the hospital.
Two open bottles of alcohol were visible in the front seat of the Honda.
Booth said the investigation would continue and that charges are likely.
