THE NTID NATIONAL ADVISORY GROUP AWARDS THREE EMPLOYEES FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 23-The National Technical Institute for the Deaf's National Advisory Group (NAG) recognized Patrick Graybill, Karen Hopkins, and Karey Tompkins Pine with the 2004 Outstanding Service Award. The award is given annually to faculty or staff members who demonstrate exceptional dedication and service to NTID.
NAG consists of professionals concerned with the postsecondary education, technical training, and general educational needs of people who are deaf. The group advises NTID leadership about operations.
Graybill, of Rochester, a recently retired professor from the Department of Cultural and Creative Studies, was recognized for his dedication to literature and theater instruction, serving as a deacon for RIT's Interfaith Chapel, coaching for the NTID Performing Arts Department, and his role with developing NTID's ASL dictionary CD.
Hopkins, of Rush, has been with NTID since 1979, and is the director of Marketing Communications. She was acknowledged for her leadership in a variety of roles, including director of the Northeast Technical Assistance Center, director of the College Advancement Division, special assistant to the Dean for Financial Aid, and director of the Division of Career Opportunities.
Pine, of Rochester, is the manager of NTID's Student Life Team. She has been employed at NTID since 1991. In addition to her leadership and commitment to NTID, she was recognized for her care and commitment to students.
The first and largest technological college in the world for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, NTID, one of eight colleges of RIT, offers educational programs and access and support services to the 1,100 deaf and hard-of-hearing students from around the world who study, live, and socialize with 14,400 hearing students on RIT's Rochester, N.Y., campus.
