Ireland suffer defeat in Deaflympics semi-final

Ireland's footballers suffered a heartbreaking 3 — 2 defeat at the hands of Iran in the Semi-final of the Deaflympics in the Olympic Stadium in Melbourne, Australia this morning.

Ireland's defeat was all the more hard to take considering they were 2 nil up at the break and seemingly coasting to a final spot against either Germany or Great Britain. However a lacklustre second half performance saw the Irish give the ball away too many times and defeat was the consequence.

Ireland will now face the losers of the Germany/Great Britain game for the bronze medal position.
