Promoting Deaf Children's Oral Speech

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva on January 31 has visited the boarding school 1 in the Nizami district of Baku.
Mrs. Aliyeva was informed on history of the School functioning since 1967, with 379 pupils, including 165 girls from numerous regions of the Republic. As was stated, over 150 educators are engaged in School with a hostel for 200 pupils. The classes pass on special program.
Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva interested in problems of the teachers.
The educators told of their needs, requesting for overhaul of the school, build sports saloon and also noted lack of some special textbooks.
Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the photo-stands in School narrating on activity of the pupils who took the second place in the Dan Ulduzu festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation last year. Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized with subsidiary classrooms and watched several lessons on Azerbaijan language and literature.
The Foundations President was informed that earlier the teachers for deaf children were trained in Moscow and Leningrad. Now such tutors are trained at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University in Baku. Unfortunately, due to lack of material base of the Society of Deaf, the children have difficulties to be employed after the School. It was also stressed necessity of teaching of military training classes in the School.
Paying attention to the handmade works of the children, Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva stressed necessity of undertaking certain measures to provide the pupils with equipments and textbooks to promote their speech.
