Yorker wins world title

YORK — Lindy Decker of York is the best female deaf bowler in the world.

The 34-year-old southpaw recently won the women's singles competition at the 2005 Deaflympics in Melbourne, Australia. Decker averaged 197.5 for six games for a 1,185 total.

She also teamed with Patty Brothag and Shawn Rutherford to place second in the trios competition. The Americans finished 33 pins behind the Swedish team.

Decker and Cheyenne Rogers earned fourth place in women's doubles for the United States. The York bowler was scheduled to compete in the team event Tuesday evening.
