Iowa Deaf finishes third in Plains tourney

OLATHE, Kan. - The Iowa School for the Deaf prep boys basketball team closed out its season by reaching the .500 mark and finishing third in the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf Tournament Saturday at Kansas Deaf with a 37-35 win over Colorado Deaf.
The Bobcats rallied in the fourth quarter as Derek Bohlman and Mack Weyers combined for 10 of ISD's 11 points. Bohlman finished with 17 points and Weyers had 16 points and 12 rebounds.
"It was a evenly matched game," said Iowa Deaf coach Dan Gradoville. "We were fortunate to come out on top. It was a good way to end the season."
The game was the finale for three Bobcat seniors, David Arteaga, Jeremy Ertz and Bohlman.
"Derek had his best all-around game of the season," said Gradoville. "He did a nice job."
