Job Description for Vocational Specialist:
General Description
Provide job development and placement services, labor market research, job analysis and support services for referred clients.
Minimum Qualifications
Required: Good customer service skills, writing skills and computer skills a must; knowledge of labor market characteristics and job requirements; 3 or more years related job experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree, Fluent in American Sign Language
Specific Duties and Responsibilities to include:
• Assess a referred individual's readiness for participating in job placement; identify potential barriers and possible solutions or make appropriate referrals for remediation assistance.
• Identify job goals based on transferrable skills and interests.
• Provide job seeking skills training as needed.
• Assist individual in developing strategies for identifying potential employers and completing initial and follow-up employer contacts.
• Review and practice interviewing skills as needed.
• Prepare resumes.
• Contact potential employers to develop job leads and contact individuals to refer leads for direct employer contact.
• Assist individual in completing applications, if necessary, providing Master Application for their use in the field.
• Monitor individual's job seeking activities closely and provide counseling and assistance on any problems they encounter. Complete timely reports to communicate client's progress to referring agency.
• Complete arrangements for reasonable accommodations, if needed.
• Coordinate services with community based agencies, counselors, and other service-providing entities
• Contact employers to complete labor market surveys to assess the current availability or designated job types.
• Complete job analysis reports either by phone or on-site with identified employers.
• Market company services to potential clients
