MoPix News from WGBH- April 8
MOPIX DEBUT IN ST LOUIS = HAPPY PEOPLE
This nice message landed in the MoPix mailbox recently (and what is the address for that mailbox? access@wgbh.org):
"Hi! Thank you so much for making it happen for us, as well as for the Deaf Communities across America. We recently went to see The Pacifier movie (last week)...and used the "reflectors" (that's what the theater called the equipment) for the first time. It's so neat! Also, it was COOL to be able to take my two sons who are hearing to the movie with me and my husband...as we were able to sit and watch The Pacifier together as a family! We look forward to seeing more upcoming closed captioned movies in our theater (in St. Louis, MO). Please put us on the email list. Again, thank you so much!"
LOEWS THEATRES INSTALLS RWC IN NJ
The Loews Theatre chain has installed Rear Window Captioning in one auditorium of each of its 17 New Jersey locations. Loews is now listing accessible film and showtime information for these theaters and its other equipped locations (in the Washington, D.C. area and select theaters in California) on its Web site. Please visit http://www.enjoytheshow.com/captioning/index.cfm for accessible film and showtime information at the RWC-equipped Loews locations. Please note, only the Loews Universal City Cinemas in Los Angeles and the Loews Metreon theater in San Francisco have auditoriums equipped with DVS Theatrical as well as Rear Window Captioning. Access information for these two theaters continues to be offered in the MoPix weekly schedule posting and on www.mopix.org
FEVER PITCH DEBUTS THIS WEEK
Fever Pitch, starring Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, directed by the Farrelly brothers (There's Something About Mary, Stuck on You) debuts with closed captioning and descriptive narration in select access-equipped theaters this week. What's the film about you say? Well, a girl falls for a boy who has already fallen for the Boston Red Sox. As your MoPix notification team is sitting in the grand ol' city of Boston, we could not let an opportunity to plug our beloved Red Sox (or even a movie about a fan of the Boston Red Sox) pass by. Happy start of the baseball season everyone!
