More than 220 thousand deaf children in China are now able to speak, with nearly 20 percent of them admitted to ordinary schools and kindergartens.
A research institute for deaf children says aid to the hearing impaired and relevant training could help these children regain language abilities, because most of them are not completely deaf.
At present, there are about 800 thousand deaf children under the age of seven in China.
