AG Bell Elects Three Members to Board of Directors
Washington, DC, June 8, 2005 – The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) announces the election of three members to its board of directors. Janet Kahn, M.S. CCC-A, Cert. AVT®, a faculty member in the Department of Communication Disorders at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, will join the board for a first term. Stephen Epstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., a physician from Wheaton, Md., and Jay Wyant, marketing director for CaptionMax from Cleveland, Ohio, will retain their seats on the board. All three directors will serve three-year terms.
"The AG Bell Board of Directors has a proud tradition of active involvement advocating for spoken language options for children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing around the world," said K. Todd Houston, Ph.D., Executive Director/CEO of AG Bell. "Our board members represent the voices of all our constituencies – families of young children, adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, and the professionals who serve them."
The AG Bell Board of Directors consists of 23 voting directors, including nine member-elected directors. By February 1 of each year, the Committee on Nominations and Elections presents at least five candidates to the board. Candidates may also be presented to the board by written petition signed by a minimum of 100 voting members.
