Applications for deaf children's camp taken

Applications are being taken for the annual Family Outdoor Skills Camp for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children near Osceola.

The Aug. 13-14 outing, held at the H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Camp, is in its fourth year, offering up to 200 participants canoeing, fishing, wall climbing and other activities.

Conservation Agent Dennis Garrison organizes the outing for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Interpreters from the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton will assist.

The camp drew 67 participants in 2002, 100 in 2003 and 188 last year. Attendance is capped at 200 this year.
