Gallaudet student heads for the Hill

Andrew Phillips has been selected to participate in the 2005 Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation/AAPD Congressional Internship Program.

WASHINGTON - Andrew Phillips will spend his summer on Capitol Hill.

The California native is one of eight students chosen for the 2005 Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation/AAPD Congressional Internship Program. He will be interning in the office of Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA).

This congressional internship program, a paid summer internship program that was launched in 2002 with a grant from the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation, was designed to provide college and university students with disabilities the opportunity to obtain firsthand knowledge of the legislative and political process, and a unique learning experience that enriches their educational endeavors and enhances their future career opportunities.

Phillips is majoring in government and will graduate next spring.
