It's been up in the air for around thirty years. But Thursday the Board of Education thought about the future of the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind on the very grounds its decision will effect.

Board members got a chance to see the technology teachers use to teach their students.

Thursday's visit comes a few days after the Board toured the Hampton campus, the other potential consolidation site.

Board President Thomas Jackson says they are going to use facts to decide which place to consolidate or to start fresh.

He says Thursday's tour was just part of gathering that information.

"I don't think you can make a decision without personally viewing both campuses, understanding the feel of them, what they are set up to do, the community support around those campuses and just have a better understanding," Jackson said.

He said most of the board members had never seen the campus before.
