Parents- Are you trying to figure out how to combine "quality time" with your kids while fulfilling your CEU requirement and looking to rekindle friendships with other interpreters you know? Royal Caribbean's award-winning Adventure Ocean® Youth Program is the answer and is also one of the many reasons why we felt Vision of the Seas is the perfect venue for our conference.

An Exciting New Tool for Interpreters: Signs' Flix Program

Signs of Development is excited to rollout the newest of its tools to assist working interpreters (as well as educators, students, parents, Deaf adults and children, etc.) You may have noticed we've temporarily limited the number of new CD WWWorkshop releases. We did this to focus on the development of this new program and we are ecstatic to bring this revolutionary new concept to you!

Signs' Flix is a membership program enabling members to view streaming videos of a variety of texts including things such as the Driver's License test, 12 Steps & Traditions, Scout Oath, Miranda Warning, and many more. We will be adding videotexts monthly!

If you are an interpreter preparing to interpret for a specific text, you can view one of Signs' many Deaf Videotext Models who will provide an interpretation of these texts. These can also be used in place of an interpretation by directly showing things such as the sample Driver's License test to a Deaf student preparing to take a driving test.

CDIs may find these videos beneficial as an interpretation with which further work can be done to expand the interpretation.

Educators and students may utilize this membership program to analyze the interpretations for interpreting and ASL features and use as a model interpretation.

Initial feedback has been overwhelming and we are encouraged to bring you many more videos in coming months! We welcome and invite all suggestions for future Videotexts. If you have a need for a specific text that we don't yet have developed, send us a message at: flixsales@signs-of-development.org and we'd be happy to have one of our ASL models develop it for you to add in our Videotext collection.

We would like to especially acknowledge the assistance of a special group of people who assisted with Signs' & my own “reinvention” process:

o Mary Mooney—for starting me to think outside of the box!
o Chris Robinson & Aimee Schiffman—for unending creativity, energy & support!
o Treva Ullom & all of the interpreters who responded to my plea for assistance —for SO many text ideas!
o Deborah Nathanson, Tamara Copeland, & Jeff Anderson for their GREAT work as Videotext models!
Thanks from the staff at Signs!
Lynne
