BuyASL.com to Donate Portion of Sales to Louisiana School for the Deaf
Donations will go towards assisting Deaf and Hard of Hearing Katrina Survivors
Moreno Valley, CA [September 14, 2005] – BuyASL.com announced today that a portion of all its sales for the next month will be donated to the Louisiana School for the Deaf, to go towards deaf and hard of hearing Hurricane Katrina survivors.
"Having visited New Orleans and enthralled by the city's beauty, I was heartbroken to see all the devastation on television caused by Hurricane Katrina," said BuyASL.com owner Mikey Marts. "I can't imagine having nothing left after a natural disaster like this, and I'm hoping that this small donation from our company will help somehow, in some way."
In addition to donating a portion of its sales, BuyASL.com will also ensure that for every three "Got ASL?" wristbands bought, $3.00 will be donated to Katrina survivors. The bands sell at three for $9.00.
"The Louisiana School for the Deaf is deeply touched by the generosity of people who have responded to us in this time of great need," said Patricia Mann, who works in the school's outreach services department. "We appreciate how we have been embraced by friends from all over the United States."
"I'm grateful that the Louisiana School for the Deaf has agreed to work with BuyASL.com in collecting these funds, because they are doing such great things at the school, especially in making sure everyone is well-fed, has shelter and is healthy," said Marts. "It's important to get these survivors back on their feet, and this is just a small way for us to help them do that."
Donations will be collected by BuyASL.com until October 15. For more information, please visit www.buyasl.com.
