Deaf activist to speak at Thomas More High

From: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, WI - Sep 20, 2005

Gregory Hlibok, an attorney adviser with the Federal Communications Commission, will use sign language to present his views on deaf empowerment at 6:30 p.m. today in the auditorium at Thomas More High School, 2601 E. Morgan Ave.

In 1988, Hlibok was one of the "Gallaudet Four" student leaders at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., who led the successful drive to have a deaf person named university president for the first time in its history. He is in Milwaukee to commemorate Deaf Awareness Week and the 125th anniversary of the National Association of the Deaf.
