Model Secondary School for the Deaf to Host Open Houses

December 2, 2005, February 24, April 28, and June 23, 2006

(Washington) The Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) is hosting Open Houses this school year to welcome potential students and their families. Registration is now open for the Open Houses on December 2, 2005, and February 24, April 28, and June 23, 2006.

MSSD is a residential high school located on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., that offers a comprehensive, tuition-free education for deaf and hard of hearing students from all around the country.

MSSD provides students with a rigorous and challenging education, including an honors program and advanced placement courses. There is a wide array of student programs and activities available during the week and on weekends. Students have full access to instruction in the classroom and meaningful social interaction with peers, teachers, and staff through visual communication.

The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University comprises two federally mandated demonstration schools for students who are deaf and hard of hearing and; provides training and technical assistance to families, professionals, and programs; identifies, develops, evaluates, and disseminates innovative curricula and materials; and improves education for deaf and hard of hearing students throughout the United States in collaboration with schools and programs from around the country.
