ASL LANGUAGE & CULTURAL
CELEBRATION
17TH JUNE, 2006
DENVER, COLORADO
Hello Friends and Everyone,
It’s almost for an exciting event the ASL Festival, which will take place on Saturday, June 17th, at 10 a.m. You will be sure to enjoy this event, now in its second year. This year, the Festival will be hosted at a different location-the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This location is a convenient, en- joyable, and better-known location for our participants.
For those with concerns or questions about parking and/or directions, you can find that information at http://www.denvergov.org/dpac/ The Denver Performing Arts Complex (DPAC) has its own parking garage, but there is also one at the convention center nearby, and various outside parking lots with varying parking charges. Public transportation is strongly encouraged, however. The options include bus and the light rail. The light rail has a station conveniently located across the street from the DPAC, and there ate two bus lines that both run to 16th Street stops, which is a two block walk to 14th Street, where DPAC is located.
In the event of sunny weather, it is recommended you bring sunglasses, hats, and/or sunscreen, for protection and to ensure you enjoy yourselves. Should the weather be less pleasant, we have a Plan B- the Festival will be moved indoors at the DAPC into the Gallery (identifiable by its glass dome)
There will be a greater variety and number of booths than last year, and there will be food available at vendor inside the DPAC cafeteria. We do not charge admission at all for this event. It is completely free to attend. We also do not require registration or any check-in procedure from any participants, unlike other events like ours. We don’t believe in charging for a great event like this; we just want to provide greater awareness of American Sign Language (ASL) to the general public, which includes non-ASL users, which would be defined as those who have no knowledge of ASL. Tell your family and friends, and encourage them to come, and be exposed. They can enjoy the beauty of our entertainment, and learn about the resources and opportuni- ties that the ASL community can offer.
We hope you attend the ASL Festival welcomes everyone!
Thank you!
