RTI Fellow Receives Salute for Work in Cochlear Implant Technology

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Blake Wilson, a senior fellow at RTI International, was honored for his contributions to the advancement of hearing research at a conference in Austria this week.

Wilson was recognized as only the third person named as “special guest of honor: for the International Conference on Cochlear Implants. The conference is in its ninth year.

An adjunct professor at Duke University Medical Center, Wilson has invented many of the processing strategies now utilized in cochlear implant systems. These are devices implanted to the inner ear to restore speech comprehension.

Wilson is widely published on cochlear implant technology and has received numerous awards. He will serve as the chair of a hearing preservation workshop to be held in the Triangle this fall.
