Deaf mute man's attacker jailed
From: BBC News, UK - Jul 4, 2006
A man who stabbed a deaf mute man in a dispute about a game of pool has been jailed for six years.
Peter Bradley, 45, from Dennistoun, Glasgow, admitted assaulting Gordon Sellar to his severe injury, permanent impairment and endangering his life.
The attack happened in Fat Cats bar in Craigpark on 10 February in a dispute about whose turn it was to play pool.
Judge Lady Dorrian ordered Bradley to be monitored for three years after his release on licence.
The High Court in Glasgow heard that Mr Sellar and his friend were playing pool when one of Bradley's friends rubbed their names off the board.
Minutes later, Mr Sellar went to the toilet followed by Bradley.
He was punched, kicked and repeatedly stabbed on the head and body.
Sentencing Bradley, who has previous convictions for assault and possession of an offensive weapon, Lady Dorrian said she was imposing the two-part sentence for the protection of the public.
