Deaf Teen Beaten For Way He Looked At Attackers

SAN DIEGO -- Police in San Diego are looking for a large group of males who beat a deaf-mute teen because they didn't like the way he "looked" at them, according to officials.

Authorities said the 18-year-old was playing basketball in the 4300 block of Wrightman Street in the Castle neighborhood. Shortly after 7 p.m., a group of seven to 10 males confronted the teen because of the way he was looking at them, the victim said.

The incident came to the attention of the police when a passer-by saw the victim several blocks away and called 911.

The beating victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.
