From: WHIOtv.com - Dayton,OH,USA - Dec 4, 2006

DAYTON, Ohio -- Dayton's deaf community was dealt a blow Monday when someone broke into their gathering place, ransacked offices and stole valuable communications equipment.

The break-in happened sometime overnight at the Dayton Association of the Deaf in the 2000 block of Valley Street. Police said whoever broke in busted the lock on the front door.

Once inside, police said they kicked in doors, rifled through drawers and stole a TV that the members of the organization said they desperately need to communicate with deaf people in the community and across the country.

It was connected to a web camera. The thief also stole a stereo. Police said someone spotted a maroon or brown minivan with two people inside coming out of the business early Monday morning.

If you have information about the break-in, contact Dayton police at 333-COPS.
