Women's Tennis Rips Gallaudet

WINCHESTER, Va. - The SU women's tennis team matched its previous season's win total Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 non-league victory over Gallaudet University.
Shenandoah (8-6) won all of the seven contested matches against the Bison (0-1); the Hornets only losses came at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles via forfeit.
SU lost only six games all match in reaching the eight win plateau for the second consecutive year; the Hornets had not won more than four dual matches in a season until last year's squad went 8-4 overall.
Junior Anne Stephenson (Winchester, Va./Handley) celebrated her fourth straight selection as the Dixie Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week with a 10-0 victory at No. 1 singles and a 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. She defeated Amanda Hilleque in singles and then combined with Jessica Padgett (Cincinnati,Ohio/Ross) to defeat Hilleque and Jessica Nini at the top doubles spot.
Shenandoah is in action again on Sunday when they take on Dixie rival Averett University in a 3:00 doubleheader with the men.
