Nugent receives scholarship

Lemont High School senior Courtney Nugent has earned a Presidential Scholarship from Gallaudet University. The $8,000 award, which is renewable year-to-year, is given to only one incoming freshman each year, and is based on exceptional academic achievement and leadership in personal and extra-curricular activities.
Nugent, a high honor roll performer who is a student in Lemont High School's Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Program, also has received the Illinois Teachers of Hearing Impaired scholarship, and is one of five students to receive a scholarship from the Lemont Lions Club.
Gallaudet, located in Washington, D.C., is considered the world leader in liberal education and career development for deaf and hard-of-hearing undergraduate students.
