British trekkers in Pakistan to support blind and deaf people

ISLAMABAD: A group of 20 British trekkers involved in supporting deaf and blind people around the globe is visiting Pakistan.

The group is scheduled to trek K2 base camp, which is one of the most famous, strenuous but rewarding route in the world. They will walk for 12 days on the Baltoro Glacier - one of the longest glaciers in the world. The group will return to Islamabad on September 14 after completing the track and will return to their country on September 16.

An exclusive dinner at the Daman-e-Koh was hosted in their honour by the tour operating company Panoramic Pakistan where the company’s managing director Salman Javed was guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, the MD informed the guests about the salient features of Pakistan’s tourism marketing strategy. He said, “Having a great cultural heritage and natural beauty in the north, Pakistan has huge potential to attract tourists from all over the world. Tourism is a very important tool for any state to be known as a welcoming country.”

The PTDC presented an exclusive gift of block printed traditional Ajrak to all the guests.

Members of the trekking group appreciated the people of Pakistan for their positive attitude and hospitality. They termed Islamabad a clean, green, open and picturesque city. Stefan Meigh, the organiser of the group from UK Panoramic Pakistan thanked the PTDC for its patronage and efforts in promoting tourism. nni
