Brubaker Marathon Fundraiser

From: NCSA - Aug 31, 2012

Hello Friends, Family and Colleagues:

Where will you be on September 30, 2012? Who knows, right?! Well, I do, I’ll
be running in the Maine Marathon! For the past two years I have committed to
running a half-marathon for charity. In 2010, I ran for The V Foundation for
cancer research. In 2011, on the 10 year anniversary of September 11^th I ran to
raise money for the American Patriot Scholarship which provides college tuition
assistance to children of service members who died in active duty. This year
please take the time to read about an effort that is much more personal. On
September 30th I will be running a FULL marathon to raise money for the Deaf
Childrens Literacy Project
.

Being the parent of a hard of hearing child I know the importance and value of
the work they do. The money we raise supports the organization’s efforts to
promote effective communication, language development and literacy for the deaf
and hard of hearing through the use of Cued Speech. Why is this important?
Access to language is critical in the educational development necessary for a
child to read, write, communicate and reach his or her full potential. Access to
language also contributes greatly to self-esteem, the development of other
age-appropriate social skills, and academic success.

This is where you come in, I need your help and the organization is in dire need
of your support. I know there are many important issues that we care deeply
about and that rely on our time, money and resources. Knowing that, I ask you to
join my 100% Team. Over the next two months, I will recruit 100+ friends to
contribute to the Deaf Children’s Literacy Project so that I can reach my
fundraising goal of $5000.

By getting people involved in my team, I don’t just want to raise money for this
important work, I also want to encourage you to get involved in supporting DCLP,
their members and the families they serve. And maybe you’ll even consider
logging a few miles with me!

Here are a couple of ways to make a tax-deductible donation to my effort:

Online: To make a contribution online you can go to the organization’s webpage:
https://www.givedirect.org/give/givefrm.asp?Action=GC&CID=566 and please
